The latest version 3.0 has just been released on xmas with huge improvements.ġ) I would like things that can be backup without too much complication - right now, I am backing up all my photos in an external drive and also the lightroom catalog.ĭarktable saves the metadata in a SQLite DB (just like LR) for fast querying, as well as individual XMP sidecar files, so you can back up just the XMP and optionally the DB.Ģ) I would like a program that I can jump ship if needed without too much problem, like lightroom, it isn't too complicate to jump ship. It has both the DAM and the non-destructive editor (RAW included). I think currently darktable is the most similar to Lightroom. So looking for alternative of Lightroom, be it separate DAM and RAW processing or one suite that have everything inside. ![]() I do not like the "subscription" idea from Adobe and do not want to go back to Lightroom. Since I am back to photography, I would like to organize my photos first with some sort of DAM. Before Lightroom 5 was using DxO ProOptics for RAW processing (and I don't have DAM back then, just put everything in folder according to year-month-date, etc) I am using Lightroom 5 (for DAM and raw processing) and using Nikon D810 (which still supported by Lightroom 5). but the first thing is, I haven't organize my photos for years (since 2010) and they just in folders by the year. But now they are a bit older, would like to do more photography. ![]() Been only using my cellphone to take photos. I am an armature photographer and haven't done much photography since my kids were born (need to carry diaper bags more so than my camera bag and tripod).
